Thalatta Estate has a rich history and is a significant landmark in South Miami-Dade County. Designed and built by the Connett family, it’s one of the few residences from the early 20th century that stands on the shores of Biscayne Bay. Its Mediterranean-Revival architectural style is reminiscent of the historic Charles Deering Estate, featuring a red clay-tiled roof, stucco walls, and symmetrical façade, among other distinctive elements.
The Village of Palmetto Bay acquired the property in 2005 to preserve this important landmark. The commitment to preserving the natural and cultural resources of Thalatta Estate is evident in the educational stewardship and programming dedicated to its precious natural and historic resources. The renovation agreement with Burke Construction Group in 2013 was part of the ongoing efforts to maintain and enhance the estate’s beauty and historical value.
